PILOT PROGRAM

Three geographic areas of focus have been identified by the state of Idaho for electric vehicle charging station pilot locations to be awarded funding through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) formula program.  Applications for two charging station pilot locations will be solicited in Lewiston, Pocatello, and Bliss.

The IAWG collected feedback from the public in 2022 on where they would like to see charging stations built. According to the state’s approved baseline plan, the areas around Bliss, Pocatello, and Lewiston were points of interest to the public. Furthermore, data from the siting, feasibility, and access study currently underway indicates that these locations score highly regarding population density, power availability, existing amenities and infrastructure, traffic volumes, service to under-represented and rural areas along with adherence to additional guidance by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Of the three geographic areas of focus, only two sites in separate geographic areas will be selected to host a pilot site. The siting, feasibility, and access study currently under development will identify areas that are selected for future RFPs.
